POSITION SUMMARY: The Product Data Management & System Configuration Lead is responsible for governing and implementing dental insurance product data across an enterprise core administration platform tightly integrated with a centralized SQL-based product database. This role ensures that product definitions, benefit rules, and configuration logic are accurately structured, stored, and deployed across systems supporting enrollment, claims, billing, and provider operations.
This position combines deep domain expertise in dental insurance with strong technical proficiency in relational databases and system configuration. The role serves as a critical link between Product, IT, Data Engineering, and Operations to ensure scalable, consistent, and auditable product implementations.
Essential Functions:
Enterprise Product Data Management (SQL-Focused)
- Own the data model and lifecycle of dental product data within a centralized SQL database
- Define and maintain relational structures for plan designs, benefits, coverage rules, fee schedules, and accumulators
- Write and optimize SQL queries to validate, audit, and troubleshoot product data
- Ensure referential integrity, normalization, and performance of product data structures
- Establish data governance standards, including naming conventions, versioning, and change tracking
- Partner with Data Engineering to enhance schema design and data pipelines
System Configuration & Integration
- Lead configuration of dental products within the enterprise core system using data-driven inputs from the SQL product repository
- Translate business requirements into both system configuration rules and underlying data structures
- Ensure seamless integration between the product database and downstream systems (claims adjudication, eligibility, billing)
- Validate that configuration logic aligns with stored data (e.g., benefit limits, frequencies, procedure codes)
- Support API driven deployment of product configurations where applicable
Testing, Validation & Data Quality
- Automate recurring SQL-based validation, reconciliation, and monitoring routines to improve efficiency and reduce manual quality checks
- Partner with QA teams to create test scenarios tied to product data and configuration logic
- Identify and resolve data anomalies impacting claims processing or member eligibility
- Implement automated data quality checks and reconciliation processes
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales, Underwriting, IT, and Data teams to translate plan designs into structured data and system rules
- Act as a subject matter expert on how product data flows across enterprise architecture
- Support system implementations, migrations, and upgrades involving product data
- Coordinate with external vendors or platforms requiring data integration
Governance, Compliance & Audit
- Maintain full traceability of product data and configuration changes within SQL environments
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements through controlled data and configuration processes
- Support internal and external audits by providing data extracts, lineage, and documentation
- Implement role-based access and change control mechanisms for product dat
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Business, or related field
- 5–8 years of experience in insurance product configuration, data management, or systems implementation
- Strong expertise in SQL (querying, joins, stored procedures, data validation, performance tuning)
- Experience working with enterprise insurance platforms and integrated data architecture
- Deep knowledge of dental insurance products (PPO, fee schedules, CDT codes, accumulators)
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into both data models and system configurations
