Position Summary Information
Position Accountabilities and Essential Functions

POSITION SUMMARY:
Instructors should be able to deliver course content in a classroom setting as well as in a hands-on lab setting to skilled trades employees including sponsored Department of Labor Apprentices. The right candidate should be familiar with power plant operations including boiler safety rules and regulations. General operating procedures for various types of boilers, uses and types of fuels and their sources: elementary chemistry of combustion. Cover boiler settings, equipment, operation and maintenance of boilers, pumps, reciprocating steam, valve operating mechanisms. These classes cover both low and high pressure boilers. Forced and induced draft systems, steam turbines and auxiliaries, auxiliary steam plant equipment, cooling towers, boiler feed water treatment and heating. Course also covers air compressors of the following types: centrifugal, rotary screw, large reciprocation compressors and drives. Boiler feed water chemical treatment is also covered

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and write course content including outcomes and objectives for approval by Delta College.
- Develop daily lesson plans including instructional aids for future Delta College use.
- Incorporate field experience and technical knowledge into student presentations that emphasizes interactive, hands-on practice.
Required Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five (5) years’ experience with Stationary Boilers
- Associates degree in a related technical field or equivalent Journeyman’s Card.
Additional Experiences Considered
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCES CONSIDERED:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or education
- Journeyman’s card in instrumentation, boiler maker, or boiler operator/stationary engineer
- Previous experience in teaching and class development
