Position Overview
The Vice President of Commercial Construction will serve as a key executive leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of commercial construction operations. This individual will play a critical role in strategic planning, project execution, team leadership, and business development.
This role requires a candidate who can serve as the firm’s Qualified Individual (QI) with the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) under the Commercial Building Contractor (CBC) classification.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide executive leadership over all commercial construction operations, including project management, field operations, and preconstruction.
- Ensure successful delivery of projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Lead and mentor project managers, superintendents, and construction staff to drive performance and accountability.
- Oversee budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and contract administration.
- Collaborate with ownership on strategic growth initiatives, market expansion, and operational improvements.
- Support and participate in business development efforts, including client relationships and pursuit strategies.
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements, including serving as the company’s Qualified Individual (QI) for Virginia DPOR (CBC classification).
- Implement and refine systems, processes, and best practices to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Foster a culture of safety, professionalism, and excellence across all projects.
Qualifications
- Required: Active eligibility to serve as a Qualified Individual (QI) with Virginia DPOR under the Commercial Building Contractor (CBC) classification.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in commercial construction.
- Proven track record managing large-scale commercial projects and leading high-performing teams.
- Deep knowledge of construction operations, project delivery methods, and industry best practices.
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels in a fast-paced environment.
- Established relationships within the Mid-Atlantic commercial construction market are a plus.
