We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team in our private practice pain clinic and ambulatory surgery center. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the healthcare team in the clinic and in the surgery center.
We are hiring for a full time MA which requires flexibility to work in the ambulatory surgery center and our clinic 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.
Job Duties will include (but not limited to):
- Customer Service: Greeting and assisting patients and visitors, answering inquiries, and providing information about the organization’s services or products.
- Reception Duties: Managing the front desk, answering phone calls, directing calls to appropriate personnel, and taking messages when necessary.
- Administrative Support: Performing clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, and maintaining records. This may also include managing schedules and appointments for staff.
- Communication: Facilitating communication between departments and ensuring that information flows smoothly within the organization.
- Managing Appointments: Scheduling appointments for staff and ensuring that rooms are prepared.
- Customer Relationship Management: Building and maintaining relationships with clients and customers, addressing their needs, and ensuring satisfaction.
- Data Entry and Management: Inputting, updating, and maintaining data in various systems and databases to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
- Administrative Support: Providing administrative assistance to various departments, including preparing charts, managing documentation, and organizing files.
- Patient Preparation:
- Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, temperature, pulse) and recording medical histories.
- Ensure patients are comfortable and understand the procedures they will undergo.
- Performing Basic Laboratory Tests:
- Conduct basic lab tests, such as urinalysis, blood glucose tests, and other point-of-care tests.
- Collect and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in electronic health record (EHR) systems, including documenting vital signs, medical histories, and treatment plans.
- Scheduling Appointments:
- Schedule patient appointments, follow-up visits, and diagnostic tests, ensuring efficient use of the healthcare provider's time.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Certification: Many clinical medical assistants are certified through organizations such as the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately record and manage patient information and follow protocols.
- Compassion and Empathy: A caring attitude towards patients, understanding their needs and concerns.
Experience
- Previous experience in a medical assistant role is preferred.
- Experience with EPIC EHR required.
- Familiarity with outpatient care processes is beneficial.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR is required.
