The Disruption Containment team at Delta improves the airline’s operations by promoting quicker, smarter decisions using real-time data, predictive analytics, collaboration, and analysis. The Disruption Containment strategy team in particular leads the strategic transformation of Delta’s Operations Control Center by designing and executing a forward-looking strategy to minimize operational disruptions, recover more quickly, and improve on Delta’s industry-leading reliability.
As an Operations Strategy project leader on this team, you will be responsible for analysis and insights development, but more importantly supporting design and implementation of a forward-looking strategy. You will serve as a cross-functional integrator, working most closely with the Director of Disruption Containment Strategy but also with other stakeholders across the Operation. We are looking for data curious individuals who seek to understand process, can connect with our business partners to leverage data, and ultimately identify opportunities and drive improvement. We are looking for candidates who enjoy thoughtful debates about how strategy, business process improvement, and analytics impact the way Delta reliably serves its customers.

Responsibilities
- Think creatively about Operations process improvement opportunities based on data analysis and findings; drive and shepherd process improvement opportunities
- Understand drivers of KPIs through various analyses and work closely with the business team to create solutions
- Translate data into information, boiling down large amounts of data into actionable and tangible insights, focused on the “so what”
- Build materials (e.g., decks) that tell the story of the problem we are solving and a plan to fix the issue
- Present findings to business leaders, including executives
- Build relationships and collaborate with teams across Delta’s Operation, including Operations Analytics, Crew Tracking, Crew Scheduling, Aircraft Routing, Tech Ops, Airport Customer Service and/or Reservations as needed
- Practice safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures
- 4 years of experience in strategy or process improvement, leading to proficiency with numbers and analytics
- Strong critical thinking and ability to dissect a problem; broad base of business fundamentals
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and deliver results
- Comfort in working in group and individual settings; ability to work cross-functionally, and drive alignment across different stakeholders
- Strong executive presence, with ability to speak eloquently and succinctly
- Direct experience communicating with stakeholders, delivering projects end-to-end, and working collaboratively to drive improvement in the overall analytical support of Delta operations worldwide
- Proficiency with basic Microsoft tools including Excel and Powerpoint
- Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
- Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.
- Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
- Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
- Master’s degree in Business, or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business/Management, Mathematics/Statistics, Economics, or other relevant quantitative field
- Experience in strategy consulting
- Previous strategy experience in complex operational roles. or other performance-based roles at an airline
- Understanding of airline operations, including crew management, aircraft routing, and customer recovery
- Familiarity and/or experience with some or all of the following: SQL, SAS, R, Tableau, PowerBI, Qlik, Spotfire or other database interface tools and languages
