Position Summary
The Receiving Supervisor plays a critical role in the smooth and timely intake of inbound containers and shipments at our U.S. distribution center. This individual is responsible for leading the receiving team to ensure containers are unloaded efficiently, product is properly accounted for and staged, and inventory is put away in the correct locations with minimal delay. The role requires consistent follow-through, proactive coordination with internal stakeholders, and a strong focus on space management and container turnaround compliance.
The Receiving Supervisor is expected to maintain a strong presence within their assigned department, leading by example and ensuring all departmental responsibilities are met without distraction from external operational areas. Clear communication and cross-functional cooperation are important but must be approached with respect for defined team roles and responsibilities.
Position Information
Container Management
· Coordinate unloading of overseas containers to ensure product is offloaded and processed within the industry standard of three (3) business days to avoid drayage fees.
· Monitor container arrival schedules and maintains accountability for timely unloading and return coordination.
Supervision of Unloading Team
· Direct and manage the warehouse staff responsible for unloading shipments, ensuring proper handling and safe practices.
· Maintain a presence on the floor to ensure work is progressing efficiently and in line with receiving priorities.
Supervision of De-Nest Operations
· Maintain a close communication with the De-Nest Lead to:
o Identify when nested overstock needs to be moved to pickable inventory to address space constraints or shipping demand.
o Ensure product that is moved out of De-Nest is quickly and accurately put away in proper bin locations.
Inventory Team Oversight
· Directly supervise the inventory control team to ensure inventory accuracy across all zones, including overstock, pickable, returns, and reserve.
· Monitor all cycle counts, reconciliations, and bin transfers performed by the inventory staff.
· Works closely with the De-Nest and Shipping leads to coordinate product flow and prevent misallocations or bin mislabeling.
· Monitor inventory discrepancies, damaged goods, and mis-picks — and drive corrective action in real-time through department heads.
· Ensure all WMS inventory adjustments are documented and compliant with internal audit procedures.
Inventory Accuracy & Put-away
· Ensure all received items are scanned, labeled, and recorded accurately in the WMS in a timely manner.
· Oversee the put-away process for received and de-nested goods, prioritizing both speed and inventory accuracy.
Space Utilization & Flow
· Monitor available warehouse space and collaborate with leadership to ensure efficient layout and product movement.
· Proactively raise space constraint concerns and work collaboratively to identify timely solutions.
Communication & Coordination
· Maintain regular dialogue with Inventory Control and Shipping departments to ensure alignment on product availability and put-away timing.
· Foster a responsive and solutions-driven approach within the receiving team.
· Foster a culture of collaboration by engaging constructively with other departments, while remaining focused on the execution and performance of the Receiving and Inventory teams.
Documentation & Systems
· Maintain accurate receiving logs, damage reports, and system entries.
· Ensure all activities are tracked through the WMS and any exceptions are promptly reported.
Education and Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
· Previous warehouse, manufacturing, or machine operation experience (preferred).
· Certification on ride-on pallet jack, sit down forklift, and stand up reach truck.
· Demonstrates an ability to convince and make decisions.
· Understanding of nested inventory and the importance of bin integrity during put-away.
· Functional knowledge of warehouse systems (Korber or equivalent) and RF-based workflows.
· Ability to balance priorities, communicate effectively, and take initiative in a fast-paced distribution environment.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to follow instructions are essential.
· Good communication and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are also important
· A strong work ethic and a flexible approach to working hours, including potential shifts, weekends, or overtime
Physical Requirements
· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
· Must be able to traverse and access all areas of the warehouse
· Warehouse and production environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
· Requires frequent standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive motion
