Position Overview:
Delsea Regional High School is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Head Girls Basketball Coach to lead and elevate its basketball program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a deep knowledge of the game, strong leadership skills, and a passion for developing student-athletes both athletically and personally. This position requires building a culture of excellence, accountability, and sportsmanship while ensuring compliance with all school, district, and New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Coaching:
Design and implement comprehensive practice plans, game strategies, and seasonal programming. Provide high-level instruction to develop individual skills and maximize team performance.
Game Day Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of game-day operations, including pre-game preparation, in-game coaching decisions, and post-game evaluation. Effectively manage staff, make strategic adjustments, and maintain composure in competitive environments.
Player Development:
Mentor student-athletes by fostering discipline, teamwork, confidence, and leadership. Create a positive environment that promotes both athletic success and personal growth.
Program Development & Scouting:
Lead the overall development of the program, including scouting opponents, analyzing game film, and implementing systems that ensure sustained success. Build relationships with feeder programs to support long-term growth.
Administrative Duties:
Manage all administrative responsibilities, including maintaining player records, supervising equipment, organizing team activities, and coordinating with the athletic department.
Compliance:
Ensure adherence to all school, district, and NJSIAA policies and regulations. Promote integrity, sportsmanship, and ethical conduct within the program.
Communication:
Maintain clear, consistent, and professional communication with student-athletes, parents, coaching staff, and school administration. Serve as a positive representative of Delsea Regional High School.
Experience:
Previous coaching experience at the high school level or higher is strongly preferred, with demonstrated success in developing and sustaining a competitive basketball program. Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, systems, and strategy.
Education:
A high school diploma is required.
Skills:
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to motivate, inspire, and effectively lead student-athletes and assistant coaches.
Certifications:
CPR/First Aid certification is preferred. Completion of all required state coaching certifications and trainings is expected.
Background Check:
Successful completion of a criminal background check and child abuse clearance in accordance with state and district policies.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to actively participate in practices, games, and team events. Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and offseason commitments.
Stipend: $9,421
