Role Description The Certified Sterile Processing Technician is a full-time, on-site role located at Delray Medical Center in Delray Beach, FL. This role is responsible for decontaminating, cleaning, inspecting, assembling, packaging, and sterilizing surgical instruments and medical equipment according to established standards and protocols. The technician maintains accurate records of sterilization cycles, monitors equipment performance, and ensures sterile supplies are properly stored and distributed to the operating room and other clinical areas. Day-to-day tasks include following infection control guidelines, collaborating with surgical and nursing teams to meet case needs, and promptly responding to requests for instruments and trays. The role also involves routine quality checks, reporting equipment issues, and supporting a safe environment for patients and staff.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge and practical skills in decontamination and cleaning of medical instruments.
- Demonstrated experience with sterilization processes and equipment, including monitoring and documentation.
- Understanding of infection control principles and practices within a hospital or clinical setting.
- Familiarity with operating room procedures and workflow, including instrument sets and case cart preparation.
- Proficiency in medical terminology related to surgical instruments, procedures, and equipment.
- Current certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (e.g., CRCST, CBSPD) or eligibility to obtain certification within a defined timeframe.
