The primary responsibility of the Retina Photographer is to capture photographic documentation of the back of the eye. Appropriate licensing or certification as required by state regulations and/or governing boards, may allow duties to include the administration of fluorescein injection. Additional duties may include but not limited to performing the duties and responsibilities of a clinical ophthalmic or retina technician. Responding to front office requests and working in partnership with all clinical office departments to promote a cooperative and supportive practice setting to positively impact the patient experience is expected.

Responsibilities
- Establish rapport with patients through introduction
- Perform retinal photography and diagnostic photography including fundus photos and fluorescein angiography as instructed by physician
- Create patient photo records
- Administer fluorescein injection
- Assist with patient work up and preparation for clinical appointment
- Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of retina technician if required by practice or office location
- Conduct inventory of ophthalmic supplies, including pharmaceuticals and instruments on a regular basis
- Assist with maintenance of clinical examination equipment
- Clean instruments in preparation for sterile processing
- Inspect instruments periodically for damage and following all office procedures to send and/or request for repairs and replacements
- Check the temperature of medical refrigerator daily.
- Check expiration date and inventory of medications kept in refrigerator and replace, as necessary
- Open and close exam lanes daily, ensuring that equipment is wiped down and sanitized as per office guidelines, battery powered instruments are placed in re-charge wells, and equipment is powered off and covered
- Follow all safety procedures as per practice and company guidelines
- Must be willing to travel between locations to support clinic operations (only applicable for multi-location practices)
- Must be willing to work early mornings, late evenings, and weekends as required to support business needs
- Execute duties of position in a professional and courteous manner
- Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Certified Retina Angiographer (CRA) required
- Additional certifications or licensing as needed by state law or governing agencies required
- Achievement of ophthalmic certifications preferred (OSC, COA, and COT)
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Well-organized, team-player with great attention to detail
- Demonstrate superior computer skills
- Highly energetic with positive attitude
- Must be able to walk and stand for eight hours
- Must be able to type or write legibly in a dimly lit setting
- Outstanding interpersonal skills as well as a neat and professional appearance
- Experience as an ophthalmic scribe or technician preferred
- Two years performing as a retina technician preferred
- One years as a retinal photographer required
