DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including the following; other duties may be assigned.):
- Oversees day to day operation of tasks being worked in the shop
- Works from blueprints, engineering sketches, and specification requirements to determine materials and construction process required to fabricate component parts to develop a complete unit as designed
- Works with Program and Project Managers to ensure parts are being fabricated per specifications
- Reviews Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) forms
- Reviews Statements of Work (SOW)
- Maintain shop overhead projects that improve our industrial capability that can be assigned to waterfront workers in between shipboard and shop direct work
- Liaison with Logistics and Planning for generating estimates
- Liaison with Logistics to generate JML and Purchase Order Requests
- Updates tracking data base and attends weekly production meeting to update Directors and Program Managers
- Support preparation of Technical Work lnstructions (TWls)
- Develops Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for shop work
- Manages overhead hours for shop personnel
- Maintains Delphinus Engineering vehicles
- Oversees special tools, calibrated equipment, weight tested equipment
- Manages pack-out and return of tools in support of Program Manager's tasks
- Approves subordinate's timesheets on a weekly basis to ensure accuracy
- Receives and maintains raw material for shop and waterfront usage
- Assists in building maintenance when required
- Manages waterfront personnel when assigned to shop
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures
- Participates in special projects as required
- Typically requires 10 years related experience to include supervisory experience
- High School Diploma or GED, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
- Experience working in the shop environment is preferred.
- Possess working knowledge of shop processes—including welding, sheet metal, machining, assembly, and preservation—in a low volume/high mix fabrication shop.
- Read and understand blueprints and specifications
- Experience with estimating work is strongly desired.
- Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, written technical instructions and manuals.
- Must possess working knowledge of welding procedures and tools.
- Knowledge of lathes, milling machines, shears, saws, grinders and pneumatic tools
- Must be able to read and understand material safety data sheets (MOS).
- Able to follow safety procedures.
