We are a private, non-sectarian, competency-based Preschool–High School located in Clearwater, Florida. Due to rapid growth in enrollment and a large waiting list of families, we’re expanding our team! We’re looking for a passionate Music Teacher to help grow and enrich our students' music experience.
Position Overview As our Music Teacher, you'll play a central role in developing students’ musical abilities, creativity, and confidence. You will teach music theory (including how to read sheet music), work with students on a variety of instruments, and lead a small contemporary student band — typically around 5 students — with instruments such as drums, keyboard, guitar, and vocals. You'll also help teach and rehearse songs for performances throughout the year and collaborate on the musical aspects of school plays and other productions such as soundtracks and soundbooth functions. You will work with students aged 4-17 years old year-round including a full Summer Camp.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach music theory, including how to read and interpret sheet music.
- Instruct students in a variety of instruments and vocal performance.
- Lead a small student ensemble (approx. 5 students) with contemporary band instruments (e.g., drums, guitar, keyboard).
- Teach and rehearse songs for school events, assemblies, and holiday programs.
- Collaborate with staff on the musical components of the annual school play and other special performances.
- Assist with basic sound production for music projects, concerts, and events.
- Participate in occasional after-school or weekend performances.
- Help develop and evolve the school’s music curriculum in collaboration with leadership.
- Create a supportive, creative, and engaging learning environment.
- Use technology to enhance instruction and maintain student records.
- Provide regular updates to parents about student progress.
- Design and implement lesson plans aligned with educational standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience teaching music to children ages 4–17.
- Proficient in at least one instrument and capable of leading a small music group.
- Comfortable teaching both instrumental and vocal music.
- Experience or interest in sound production and stage performance preparation.
- Background in supporting musical theater or school productions (preferred).
- High school diploma required; additional music education or certifications a plus.
- Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
- Creative, energetic, patient, and collaborative.
- Tech-savvy and able to update classroom content online.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Willing to relocate to Clearwater right away.
