Work you'll do

As the Merchandising and Assortment Product Manager within Deloitte Consulting's ConvergeCONSUMER™ team, you will lead the strategy, development, and delivery of cutting-edge, data-driven products that empower consumer-focused businesses to optimize merchandising decisions and personalize customer experiences at scale. You will own the end-to-end product lifecycle for Assortment Optimization solutions, translating business needs and consumer insights into actionable product strategies, and working closely with engineering, design, and marketing teams to ensure timely delivery, market readiness, and ongoing product evolution. With a strong foundation in analytics and retail domain expertise, you will bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders, drive cross-functional alignment, and deliver high-impact solutions that meet real-world business challenges in a rapidly converging marketplace.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute the strategy for the Assortment Optimization product.
  • Collaborate with other Product Managers and engineering team members on product development activities and assist in tasks necessary to make a developed product market-ready.
  • Work with designers and developers to ensure product features are delivered on time, meet quality standards, and align with the product vision.
  • Engage with various stakeholders to scope high-level features or user stories to a level of detail needed for engineering team members to execute against (including requirements, mockups, prototypes, etc.).
  • Play a key hands-on role in an agile software development lifecycle by writing user stories, grooming backlogs, and running sprint reviews/showcases.
  • Develop product collateral such as presentations, sales tools, marketing materials, and product demonstrations.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on customer/decision-maker/end-user feedback and manage the success and evolution of products in the marketplace.
  • Provide timely reporting of development activities, product launches/extensions, and ongoing sales, revenue, and profitability performance against defined business targets.
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to develop effective go-to-market strategies, product positioning, and sales enablement materials.

The successful candidate would possess these skills:

  • Strong technical background combined with solid business experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly self-motivated, energetic, and passionate, with a team-oriented working style.
  • Proven ability to partner successfully with internal stakeholders across the organization and drive outcomes cross-functionally.
  • Well-developed judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to juggle many competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in the merchandising domain and/or with merchants.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML and optimization technologies.
  • Familiarity with User Experience design principles and ability to collaborate effectively with design teams.
  • Experience with agile software development methodology and tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
  • Experience with market and competitive analysis to identify product opportunities and inform decision-making.
  • Experience building data science and analytics solutions, particularly in the merchandising space.
  • Familiarity with optimization techniques.
  • Experience working closely with an engineering organization to manage products through the entire product lifecycle.
  • Solid retail or consumer products analytics experience and domain knowledge.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, or an equivalent field; an advanced degree is a plus, and equivalent work experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • 7 years of proven success in a fast-paced, retail or consumer products-related product management or management consulting role.
  • Ability to travel 25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $134,500-$265,000.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
