DELMARVA SYNOPSIS:

Since 1999, Delmarva Site Development, Inc. has been a well-recognized full- service self-performing heavy civil contractor in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Specializing in site development and lime & cement stabilization, we serve a wide variety of clients in the military, government, commercial and residential markets.

DEPARTMENT SYNOPSIS:

Delmarva Site Development, Inc Heavy Iron Department ensures that the timely maintenance and repair program are met by applying techniques, skills and knowledge.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lowboy Driver primary responsibility is hauling construction equipment and materials to DSD,Inc. project sites.

*ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all company and federal safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for each task.*

  • Transport heavy construction equipment/material to and from jobs.
  • Dismantels tractor trailer, separate cab & tractor trailer.
  • Load heavy piece of machinery into the trailer, crawl under the machines to secure binder chains between machine & trailer. Make sure chains are tight & secure.
  • Climb to cab & reconnect cab with trailer. Able to climb down to re-attach airline back to trailer.
  • Knowledge of DOT standards and requirements and adhere to same
  • Pre and Post trip inspections making sure the truck is in safe conditions to travel.
  • Maintains a truck log in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policy.
  • Able to drive up to eleven hours a day.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Drivers License is required.
  • Previous Lowboy Driver experience
  • Must pass DOT Physical.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Some knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in construction work.
  • General knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
  • Knowledge of heavy site construction equipment operation, maintenance, capability, use and function.
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Ability to communicate in English both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
  • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
  • Ability to perform job requirements in adverse field conditions and all weather conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the Lowboy Driver is regularly exposed to: Moving mechanical parts, extremes of hot and cold weather, and vibration The employee is frequently exposed to: Fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to: Wet and/or humid conditions; The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
