Position Overview

The Shift Manager is responsible for leading the restaurant during an assigned shift and ensuring that team members consistently execute our standards for speed, friendliness, taste, cleanliness, and overall guest experience.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced team member ready to move into leadership or an individual looking to begin their management career.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead the Team

• Lead, motivate, and coach team members throughout each shift.
• Set clear expectations and hold team members accountable.
• Lead by example in attitude, work ethic, appearance, and professionalism.
• Provide direction during busy periods and ensure the team remains focused.
• Assist with training and developing new team members.
• Recognize great performance and address performance concerns appropriately.
• Help create a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.

Run a Successful Shift

• Take ownership of the restaurant during your assigned shift.
• Ensure proper positioning and deployment of team members.
• Monitor speed of service and make adjustments as needed.
• Maintain food quality and ensure orders are accurate.
• Ensure the restaurant remains clean, organized, and guest-ready.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Complete opening, closing, cleaning, prep, and operational responsibilities.
• Ensure proper cash handling and register procedures.
• Communicate important information to the incoming manager.

Guest Experience

• Make every guest feel welcomed and valued.
• Respond to guest concerns quickly and professionally.
• Take ownership of service recovery when something goes wrong.
• Ensure the team understands that every interaction with a guest matters.
• Drive improvement in guest satisfaction and survey results.

Accountability & Results

• Monitor labor and business levels throughout the shift.
• Minimize food waste and unnecessary product usage.
• Monitor inventory, prep levels, and product availability.
• Identify operational problems and take action to correct them.
• Communicate shift performance, issues, and opportunities to management.
• Follow all company policies, procedures, and Zaxbys standards.

Previous restaurant or leadership experience is preferred, but not required. We will train the right candidate.
