What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quant Developer (Trading Desk Strat) | Prestigious Boston Hedge Fund position at Delmar Nord?
Quant Developer (Trading Desk Strat) | Prestigious Boston Hedge Fund
We’re partnered with a prestigious multi‑strategy hedge fund in Boston with decades of high risk‑adjusted returns, strong culture (very collaborative and collegiate), excellent quality of life (folks rarely leave), and an extremely high bar for talent. The leader of this team headed quant development for a Tier 1 Hedge Fund, so this is a very exciting opportunity to join the team as an early hire leading a high profile greenfield initiative.
This role will partner directly with the Head of Trading and Portfolio Managers and sit at the intersection of trading, research, and engineering. This is a unique opportunity to directly shape PnL and investment decision‑making on a daily basis at an elite hedge fund with a 30 year track record of success; you'll own conceive, architect, and deliver high‑visibility greenfield systems, partner directly with PMs and the Head of Trading, and deliver tooling that meaningfully impacts live trading, execution, and research velocity across the firm.
This is a lean firm with established engineering and infrastructure teams that have been working to modernize their tech stack and build cutting edge tools and applications. There is very little bureaucracy limiting the velocity of development and ideation, and this firm prides itself on its meritocratic culture, internal skills development programs, and internal mobility.
You’ll own the design and development of systems that support the full lifecycle of an investment strategy, including:
- Live trading, execution, and strategy‑specific applications for niche strategies
- Portfolio monitoring and construction frameworks
- High‑impact tooling and workflow automation solutions that reduce friction between PMs and traders, enabling faster iteration and execution
Skills:
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Math or Physics
- 4 years of experience with Python
- 3 years in a quant, dev‑strat, desk strat, or trading‑adjacent engineering role
- Proven experience driving greenfield initiatives
- Experience working with traders or portfolio managers (ideally as a thought-partner, rather than pure dev)
- Strong commercial instincts and the judgment to balance quick wins with long‑term platform design
Benefits:
- Industry leading compensation and benefits package
- Health, Dental, and Vision insurance, 401k, Profit Sharing, Catered lunches, Onsite Gym, and the list goes on!
- Outstanding quality of life, culture, and internal career growth opportunities
Salary : $200,000 - $250,000
