Delmar Mortgage Company is seeking an experienced, Fully Delegated Mortgage Underwriter to join our premier, in-house operations team in St. Louis. In this role, you will utilize your full delegation status to underwrite Conventional, FHA, and VA loans, ensuring structural integrity and compliance with investor and agency guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate Creditworthiness: Review borrower credit profiles, complex tax returns, asset statements, and employment histories to accurately assess risk.
- Issue Final Approvals: Render final lending decisions using full signature authority on Conventional, FHA (DE), and VA (SAR/LAPP) loan products.
- Analyze Collateral: Review property appraisals, title commitments, and sales contracts to verify property eligibility and loan-to-value (LTV) constraints.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Audit all loan documentation against Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, HUD, VA, and internal Delmar Mortgage risk management policies.
- Collaborate with Operations: Work directly with loan processors and sales teams to efficiently resolve underwriting conditions and move loans smoothly toward closing.
- Mitigate Risk: Identify red flags, fraudulent documentation, or inconsistencies within loan files to protect the company from manufacturing defects.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of residential mortgage underwriting experience, must have all delegation credentials.
- Certifications: Active HUD Direct Endorsement (DE) designation and VA Lender Appraisal Processing Program (LAPP/SAR) authority are required.
- Financial Literacy: Strong ability to calculate complex income structures, including self-employed borrowers, partnerships, and corporate tax returns.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to clearly explain underwriting decisions and complex guidelines to non-technical stakeholders.
