Position Summary
The EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) Programmer/Operator is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating wire and sinker EDM machines to manufacture precision components to tight tolerances. This role requires strong attention to detail, technical expertise, and the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.
Key Responsibilities
- Program wire and sinker EDM machines
- Set up machines, including workholding, electrodes, and tooling
- Read and interpret blueprints, CAD models, and technical drawings
- Select appropriate machine settings (feeds, speeds, offsets)
- Monitor machine operations and make adjustments as needed
- Maintain tight tolerances and uphold high-quality standards
- Troubleshoot machine issues and improve processes
- Assist with quoting new jobs
Qualifications
- 2 years of EDM programming and operating experience
- Proficiency with Mastercam and SolidWorks
- Knowledge of tooling, electrode design, materials, and fixture design
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- High level of attention to detail
Preferred Skills
- Experience in a high-precision manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with continuous improvement practices
