Role Description
This is a part-time (contract), on-site role for an early career Engineering Technician wishing to learn about and specialize in UAS (Unmanned Aerial System) Integration and Testing, located in Sunnyvale, CA. A successful candidate shall have the opportunity to contribute to, and grow with the company at an early stage in the R&D and operationalization process.
Specific responsibilites shall include, but not be limited to:
• Setup samples, prepare test schedules and run tests on lithium batteries.
- Set up articles, prepare tests schedules and run tests on electric motors.
- Determine appropriate test methodologies, create test sequences and run tests on other actuators and avionics components.
- Document all testing work in a systematic and complete manner.
- Participate in integration, repair and maintenance efforts for existing fleet, including, but not limited to composites, electronics, wire harnesses, soldering, crimping, metal work etc.
- Learn about UAS design and operations and participate in flight testing.
- Aid team with any other aspects of UAS design and operations as needed or as interested with a view to gaining skills contributing to career growth.
- Work towards part 107 UAS pilot certification.
Qualifications
- Recent graduate or current student in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s program.
- Science or engineering majors are desired but not required; however, a strong background in basic science and mathematics will be essential.
- Basic understanding of electrical and tool safety.
- Basic knowledge of soldering, use of hand tools, working with different materials.
- Some experience (at least as a hobby) of arts and crafts or project work involving carbon or glass fiber composites, wood, aluminum, wires and electronics etc.
- Hobby/ RC aircraft experience is strongly preferred.
- Model trains, FSAE, robotics etc. activities strongly preferred.
- Strong documentation skills are required.
- Passion for aerospace and flying is highly desirable.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. This role is NOT eligible for visa/ CPT/ OPT sponsoship.
