Join Our Dynamic After School Program Team! Part-Time Staff Needed for the 2025–2026 Academic School Year
Are you passionate about youth development, community engagement, and creating safe, inspiring spaces for students to learn and grow? We’re looking for energetic, compassionate, and committed team members to be part of our after school family!
Schedule:
- Approx. 20 hours/week
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 2:00–6:00 PM
- Thursday: 1:00–6:00 PM (Times may vary slightly depending on your assigned school site)
- Staff follow the HLPUSD student calendar with additional dates for training
✅ Requirements:
- Must be 18 years old
- High school diploma or GED required
- 48 college credits or ability to pass a basic skills assessment (Math, Language, and Writing)
- Previous experience working with children preferred
- Pursuing a career in education or child development? That’s a big plus!
- Must pass background check, fingerprinting, and TB test
What You’ll Do: As a valued team member, you will:
- Deliver engaging, high-quality programs that meet grant requirements and align with district and site curricula
- Plan and lead activities that reflect research-based youth development and best practices
- Encourage students through active, meaningful learning experiences that promote confidence, mastery, and creativity
- Collaborate with volunteers and integrate them in ways that support student learning and program goals
- Adapt activities to meet the physical and developmental needs of all students
- Maintain a safe, inclusive environment, holding students to high standards of behavior and achievement
- Acknowledge positive behavior and calmly intervene when challenges arise
- Greet every student, parent, and employee with positivity, respect, and professionalism
- Maintain program materials and ensure the classroom stays neat and organized
- Communicate openly with your team, support a positive staff culture, and bring your energy and empathy to every interaction
- Support supper/snack distribution, end-of-day dismissal, and any other needs as directed
