Education & Qualifications: Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. High School Diploma or GED preferred. Must be able to stand up to 4 hours at a time and work at a fast pace with frequent twisting and turning. Must have excellent manual dexterity and be able to lift up to 60 pounds frequently. Must be able to use and read a digital weight scale, perform basic math calculations, and accurately count large quantities of food products and supplies. Food service experience and meat slicing experience preferred.
Summary: The primary responsibility of this full-time position will be slicing meat and cheese. The Slicer will also perform a variety of tasks when needed in the food production facility including but not limited to: dressing production, raw material preparation, weighing, mixing, packaging, maintaining cooler and freezer inventory, pizza and hoagie production, loading and unloading trucks; operation and tooling changeover of slicer, dressing machine, mixer, and packaging machines. Perform cleaning and sanitation procedures as required by department. This position starts at 4:00 a.m. and the length of each shift varies depending on daily production demands. Flexibility is required, as end times may differ from day to day. Starting wage for this position is $18.72 per hour.
Essential Functions:
- Safely operate (including tooling change-overs) floor slicer, hand slicer, dressing packaging machine, chopper/shredder, dressing mixer, and dish machine.
- Open, slice, stack and stage various meat and cheese products for hoagie production.
- Rotate all inventory (FIFO method) according to code dates for use in production.
- Monitor inventory during production and report any shortages or low inventory levels to Supervisor.
- Restock all processing aids and disposables (gloves, hand towels, dry pads, film wrap, etc.) after production in all pre-production areas.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment throughout production.
- Perform essential cleaning and sanitizing of machine, equipment, utensils, tables, sinks, walls, floors, and drains per sanitation program.
- Assist in loading trucks.
- Assist in counting inventory.
- Backup Hoagie Line, Food Packaging Machine Operator, Dishwasher, Prep, & Coordinator roles as needed.
- Produce all products to company specifications and quality standards.
Other Responsibilities:
- Must attend on-site OSHA and food safety training.
- Maintain and protect employee, customer, and consumer confidentiality.
- Report to and from work at assigned time.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Must be honest and reliable.
- Must be able to work in a team atmosphere. Provide help and support to co-workers on an ongoing basis.
