What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver/Operator position at Delectus, LLC?
- Perform field work related to remediation and industrial maintenance projects under direct or indirect supervision.
- Spend approximately 30% of work hours driving and the remainder performing on-site tasks as part of a field team.
- Depending on location and business needs, may be required to perform duties associated with a Field Technician role.
- Accurately complete all required documentation, including timesheets, daily work reports, driver’s logs, pre- and post-vehicle inspections, and daily tailgate safety meeting forms.
- Understand and apply the project’s detailed scope of work to ensure strict compliance with contract specifications, schedules, and established policies and procedures.
- Adhere to safety protocols at all times during field operations.
- Ability to work in confined or restricted spaces, including squatting and crawling for extended periods.
- Ability to follow directions and communicate effectively in English, including reading and understanding hazard placards, safety labels, and site safety documentation.
- Capable of safely driving and conducting safety inspections on all vehicles for which licensed.
- Operate various types of vehicles and equipment safely, including but not limited to Vacuum Trucks, Vacuum Trailers, Turbo-Vacs, Roll-Off Trucks, and Hydro Vacs.
- Willingness to travel and work on out-of-town projects for periods of two weeks or longer, as required.
- Must comply with all company and client safety requirements and site-specific standards.
- Physical demands and environmental conditions vary depending on project type and location.
- Work is performed outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.
- May be exposed to extreme environmental factors such as heat, cold, heights, hazardous chemicals, loud noise, heavy equipment, and extended work hours.
- Must be capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including prolonged standing, walking, crouching, manual handling, and lifting up to 50 pounds or more.
- Must remain clean-shaven to ensure the proper fit and seal of respiratory protection equipment.
- Proficient in operating manual transmission vehicles.
- High School Diploma or GED required (or equivalent reading, writing, and reasoning skills).
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience operating vacuum trucks or similar heavy equipment.
- Additional experience in related fields such as emergency response, manual labor, general construction, or industrial cleaning is preferred.
- Valid Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements required.
- TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) is preferred.
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER and Confined Space Entry certifications must be completed within the first 30 days of employment.
- Successful completion of pre-employment background checks and substance screenings is required, including but not limited to employment verification, criminal history review, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) checks. Ongoing verifications may be conducted throughout employment to ensure continued compliance with policy standards.
