Accounting Controller — Key Responsibilities
Financial Oversight & Compliance
Required
Financial Oversight & Compliance
- Oversee and coordinate all financial activities across the organization.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain strong accounting records, internal controls, and reporting systems.
- Provide oversight of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions.
- Review AR/AP activity for accuracy, proper coding, and documentation.
- Reconcile bank statements, general ledger analysis, and month-end close.
- Support preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage budgets and monitor actual vs. forecasted financial performance.
- Identify cost-reduction opportunities through financial analysis.
- Review and secure documentation for credit card transactions; ensure proper expense coding and project tagging.
- Partner with the CFO on financial strategy, forecasting, and cash flow planning.
- Support risk management initiatives and internal process improvements.
- Identify and help implement more efficient accounting procedures and systems.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Assist CFO with special projects and additional tasks as needed.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
