Position Summary
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as the strategic and operational leader of the Delaware Society of Certified Public Accountants (DSCPA), a membership-based professional organization. The CEO is responsible for advancing the organization’s mission through legislative advocacy, financial stewardship, member engagement, and overall organizational management.
Leadership & Governance
- Serve as an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors and keep the Board informed on critical matters
- Coordinate Board meetings, agendas, and reporting materials
- Ensure compliance with governance requirements, including conflict of interest policies
- Prepare and present regular CEO reports to the Board
Legislative & Advocacy
- Monitor and analyze state and federal legislation impacting the profession
- Advise leadership and members on legislative developments and strategy
- Collaborate with lobbyists and national organizations (e.g., AICPA, NASBA)
- Represent DSCPA at legislative meetings and advocacy events
- Coordinate grassroots and member advocacy efforts
Financial & Operational Management
- Oversee financial operations, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance
- Work with the bookkeeper on monthly reporting and reconciliations
- Ensure preparation of annual financial statements and IRS Form 990
- Maintain banking relationships and internal controls
Membership & Programs
- Serve as a resource to members on licensing, ethics, and professional matters
- Oversee membership administration and database management
- Supervise Director of Programs and Member Services
- Direct development and delivery of CPE programs
External Relations & Industry Engagement
- Represent DSCPA at national and regional meetings
- Maintain relationships with AICPA, CPASEA, and regulatory bodies
- Develop sponsorships, partnerships, and revenue opportunities
PAC & Compliance Oversight
- Serve as Secretary/Treasurer of the PAC
- Ensure regulatory filings and compliance
- Coordinate campaign contribution activities
Administration & Technology
- Lead staff and manage day-to-day operations
- Oversee communications and digital platforms
- Manage website, vendors, and technology infrastructure
- Ensure organizational compliance and records management
Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience in a professional association, nonprofit, or similar organization
- Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory environments
- Financial management experience
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- CPA profession familiarity preferred
