- Proficiency in PHRST (Payroll Human Resources Statewide Technology) preferred

- Related five years of any combination of secretarial level work experience and/or business related training
- HR and/or leave of absence administration experience is a plus
- Demonstrates good attendance record
- Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with other state agencies and insurance companies
- Ability to make decisions, work under pressure, comprehend multiple instructions and exercise good judgment
- Ability to comprehend various federal and state laws involving FMLA, Worker’s Compensation, Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability
- Ability to consistently apply federal and state laws and district policies and procedures
- Proficiency in using computer; specifically knowledge in MS Excel and MS Word
- Knowledge of secretarial techniques, office procedures and business procedures
- Ability to coordinate workload to meet schedules/deadlines
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people with unique and varying needs for assistance
- Ability to exercise tact, discretion and confidentiality with a pleasant, cooperative attitude
- Evaluate and process employee leaves of absence including the State’s Short-Term and Long-Term Disability Programs, FMLA, Donated Leave and Worker’s Compensation
- Interpret, explain and apply applicable state and federal laws and regulations and District policies and procedures
- Communicate leave information to employees and/or their designees
- Update employee records with leave information
- Maintain leave of absence files
- Initiate and distribute all Personnel Authorization Forms regarding leaves of absence
- Maintain spreadsheets for all leaves
- Complete seniority date reviews and adjustments for employees who have taken a leave of absence
- Complete employment verification forms for employees on leave
- Respond in a timely manner to requests for information and assistance
- Compose and prepare leave of absence correspondence promptly
- Communicate leave information to appropriate administrators
- Process leave information in a timely manner
- Maintain ongoing communication with employees, administrators, state agencies, etc.
- Provide information for monthly Board meeting as needed
- Schedule Fit for Duty Appointments for employees
- Conduct pre-employment meetings
- Filing documents as needed
- Work collaboratively with the Payroll & Benefits Department
- Work collaboratively to support the overall functions of the Human Resources Department (pre-employment meetings, phones, mail, etc.)
- Perform other related tasks and assume other related responsibilities as assigned
