This position is contingent upon contract award.

The Pipefitter Maintenance position for barge berthing and messing operations is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of piping systems on barges and related facilities. This role involves installation, inspection, testing, and repair of piping systems that support berthing operations, mess facilities, and other marine functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assemble, install, and repair original operable condition for pipes, fittings, fixtures of steam, heating, and drainage systems.
  • Conduct minor weld holding fixtures or hanger to steel structural members.
  • Repair and replace (if needed) to original and operable condition for pipes and piping system, which include (but not limited to) cutting, bending, threading, brazing, assembling, coupling and fastening pipe and pipe hangers.
  • Test piping to ensure proper pressures and that the pipe and system maintain flow.
  • Perform repairs and replacements according to the American National Standards Institute A40.8-55 and National Plumbing Code.
  • Assist in the following duties:
  • Tie up or cast-off berthing barge (Down River).
  • Sewage, potable water, steam, shore power, telephone, fire main, gangways and cable television connections (Down River).
  • 1-inch KEVLAR mooring lines (150 ft. in length). With 6' loop in both ends, with Chafing gear installed.
  • 2-inch KEVLAR mooring lines (200 ft. in length). With 6' loop in both ends, with Chafing gear installed.
  • Cleaning and sanitization duties for inside and outside surfaces (including buffing and waxing).
  • Winterization duties (as required).
  • Clean, gas free safe for entry and hot work, inspect and test CHT system, replacing 3 or 4 floats per system.
  • Clean, gas free safe for entry and hot work, and air test tanks and voids.
  • Provide household and commercial type garbage disposal, remove existing, replace and operational test.
  • Remove existing, provide and install new single function clothes washer and dryer, commercial style, accomplish operational test.
  • Accomplish a preliminary and final visual and operational inspection of all systems and equipment utilizing barge systems and equipment check off list (BSEC). Submit a detailed report of all discrepancies.
  • Replace or repair of Habitability items:
  • Urinal, toilet, sink, shower head, shower mixing valve
  • Flushometer, sink mixing valve
  • Deck drain (clean free of obstructions)
  • Water fountain
  • Flushometer hoses
  • Deck drains and piping
  • Other duties as identified and assigned
Requirements:

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Active DoD Personnel Security Clearance
  • 2 years of experience
  • Proven welding experience
  • Proven experience as a marine pipefitter and using common piping tools and equipment

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Marine Pipefitter Certification

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • As Required.

Security Responsibilities

  • Eligible and obtain a DoD Personnel Security Clearance.
  • Must comply with all company Information Systems security policies and procedures.
  • May be responsible for proper classification and marking of all information and materials. Employee shall not divulge any information, or afford access to other employees not having a need-to-know authorization. Shall not divulge information outside the company without management approval. Will be required to execute company non-disclosure agreement prior to access to any controlled information.

Language Skills

Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex words and technical documents/diagrams.

Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing and work effectively as part of a team.

Reasoning Ability and Mathematical Skills

Must be able to analyze problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. An ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is desirable. Must be able to calculate figures and numbers, and percentages and be able to draw and interpret graphs. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and drawings.

  • Must be able to lift and/or move at least 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to detect odors, noises, bangs, etc., or other sounds to detect discrepancies of malfunctioning equipment.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors.
  • Must be able to perform Domestic and International travel as required.
  • Shop floor environment.
  • Will be working in areas with risk of injury from electrical applications, moving mechanical parts, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems under pressure and electrical motion systems.
  • May be exposed to conditions of extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises.

Salary : $45,962 - $64,892
