Position: Visitor Services Coordinator
Full-time, Non-Exempt Position
Site: Based out DuPont Environmental Education Center, occasionally at Ashland Nature Center
Schedule: 40 hours/week including at least two Saturdays each month, occasional weeknight hours and special events. Mondays at Ashland Nature Center.

Founded in 1964, the Delaware Nature Society (DelNature) is a state-wide, non-profit organization that aspires to be inclusive and multicultural, celebrating the rich dimensions of diversity in nature and people. DelNature delivers hands-on environmental education and conservation programs at four sites: Ashland Nature Center (HQ), in Hockessin, DE; DuPont Environmental Education Center, in Wilmington, DE; Coverdale Farm Preserve, in Greenville, DE; and Abbott’s Mill Nature Center, in Milford, DE. At these and other sites, we also manage over 2,000 acres of land, including four nature preserves. DelNature is a state affiliate of the National Wildlife Federation. Position Summary
This position reports to the Site Director at the DuPont Environmental Education Center (DEEC) and works closely with the Ashland Nature Center Office Manager supporting day-to-day visitor services needs and management of site and front desk duties and coordination of visitor services at the DuPont Environmental Education Center. Duties include greeting guests, site, and equipment management. Serves as the reservation liaison to the Riverfront Development Corp (RDC). Works closely with the Database Manager and Asland Nature Center Office Manager with Altru support including input and management, registrations, and processing member requests. Occasional hours at Ashland Nature Center are seasonally scheduled for program set-up in Altru.
Responsibilities
- Trains, schedules, and coordinate visitor services staff (Visitor Services Associates, Weekend Teacher Naturalists, and Visitor Services Volunteers) at DEEC.
- Processes registrations, memberships, cancelations, and refunds. Manages waiting lists and runs rosters as needed. Sets-up programs in Altru for registration seasonally and as needed.
- Serves as a liaison for the RDC scheduling site reservations and building use. Assists with A/V and meeting room setup.
- Greets and assists guests, provides interpretive overview, answer phones for Ashland and DEEC, and assists in managing the visitor services desk, lobby literature and displays.
- Performs support functions related to general office operations. Provide oversight of copy room, and reception area at DEEC and support lobby and office management at Ashland.
- Assists with office duties including mail pick-up, mail processing, bank runs, and other administrative duties.
- Supports DelNature member, public and community events and participates in, and supports organization-wide events and programs and other site programs as available.
- Manages the telephone system, postage machine, copier/printer, computers, office supplies, and other office equipment at DEEC.
- Manages office duties including monthly petty cash, sales reporting, bulk mail, logging volunteer hours, and organization wide AED check.
- Supports the site teams managing daily needs, including animal care.
- Ensures all DelNature policies and procedures, including health and safety protocols, are implemented and always enforced.
- Promotes and supports DelNature’s mission, values, goals, activities, and membership to a wide array of audiences.
- Performs other duties as requested by the supervisor or senior leadership staff.
Qualification and Experience
- Commitment to and passion for the mission of Delaware Nature Society.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills, and/or the ability to learn quickly, the DelNature software systems Altru and PayCom.
- Friendly and welcoming when greeting and assisting members and guests.
- Must possess the following traits and skills: Flexibility, dependability, critical thinking, problem solving, detail oriented and decision-making skills, work as part of a team.

- 21 years of age or older

Salary and Compensation
This is a $21.00/hour full-time, 40 hours/week non-exempt position with benefits including health, dental, paid vacation and sick time, employee/employer funded retirement and paid 30-minute lunch break.
