What are the responsibilities and job description for the TRANSPORT EMT position at Delaware Hospice Inc?
Delaware Hospice is actively seeking PRN Hospice Transport EMTs. Availability week days is needed.
The BLS Certified Transport EMT is responsible for providing basic life support and non-emergency medical assistance to patients during transport in an ambulance or other designated medical transport vehicle. This position involves assessing patient needs, performing basic medical procedures, and maintaining patient safety during transit. The role may also require coordination with medical staff, maintaining patient records, and ensuring vehicle and equipment readiness.

- BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification required
- AED certification required
- Previous experience in a medical or emergency response role is preferred.
- Delaware EMT-Basic certification (or equivalent) preferred.
- Completion of a certified EMT-Basic or emergency responder training program.
- Knowledge of BLS protocols and emergency response procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum Age of 21 years
- Valid driver’s license (non-CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Successful completion of Emergency Vehicle Operators course conducted by the Delaware State Fire School
- At least one (1) year of driving experience preferred.
- Strong time-management and organizational skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic mechanical knowledge is a plus.
- Knowledge of local traffic laws and routes.

- Ability to work effectively under stress in emergency situations.
- Physical ability to lift and maneuver patients safely.
- Ability to move, lift, pull or push patients or objects up to 150 pounds. Ability to bend, flex, lift, carry, sit, and stand for extended periods of time.
- Able to interact successfully with all levels within the organization.
- Will be required to work for extended hours sitting or standing and use repetitive motions.
