Responsibilities:

Provide Person-Centered Care: At Delaware Hospice, you step into a role beyond traditional healthcare. Your primary responsibility is to provide compassionate care and services within the scope of CNA certification, adhering to established policies and procedures to ensure strict compliance with federal and state regulations. In our patients' homes, you become a beacon of support, offering personal care and light household services that go beyond the physical aspects of care. Your role extends to caring for the patient and sharing your expertise with family members and primary caregivers, demonstrating essential personal care techniques under the guidance of the Registered Nurse (RN).

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, you will possess:

  • Two years of experience in a hospital, extended care facility, home care, or hospice setting (preferred).
  • Certification within the State of Delaware as a Nurse Aide or completion of a 75-hour training course and required competency testing.
  • Nursing students completing one academic year inclusive of direct patient care will be considered if certification requirements are fulfilled.
  • Sympathetic attitude toward the care of the dying patient.
  • Demonstrated maturity to handle the demands of the job effectively.
  • Dependable transportation to patient's homes, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driver’s record.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Ability to lift and turn patients as needed, adhering to industry standards and guidelines for safety and correct ergonomic practices.
  • Comfort working in an environment where blood, body tissue, and fluids exposure may occur regularly, following all healthcare industry safety guidelines.
