Summary Statement

This year-round position is responsible for assisting in the development of interpretive exhibits and waysides and helping lead statewide interpretive functions (communication, evaluation, and program promotion) within Delaware State Parks. This position will also support park-level and statewide programming/ interpretive initiatives as well as other Interpretive Services Team projects and focus areas. These programs and initiatives increase the public’s awareness of their surrounding environment and foster the appreciation, enjoyment and utilization of the natural and cultural resources and experiences of Delaware State Parks.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate (develop, review, distribute) interpretive publications/promotion (sponsorships, banners, booklets, flyers)
  • Manage, oversee and report on interpretive feedback/surveys & evaluation
  • Assist the Exhibits Coordinator in development, tracking, editing and installation of interpretative exhibits, waysides, publications and marketing materials
  • Review and revise programming web pages (communication), social media review and article writing
  • Develop marketing techniques and practices, including social media and tabling for Delaware State Parks
  • Provide oversight and supervision for interpretive services intern and /or staff
  • Support projects within the Interpretive Services Team (virtual programming, grants, DEIA initiatives, training, reporting, data collection and more)
  • Track expenses and related budgets
  • Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills
  • Will involve occasionally working outside for long periods of time in potentially hot, humid conditions
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and walk a minimum of a mile in uneven terrain
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas

  • Six months experience writing, editing, planning and/or producing content for exhibits, publications and/or online resources.
  • Six months experience creating and managing spreadsheets.
  • Six months experience coordinating and promoting special events or initiatives.
  • One year experience using Microsoft Office Programs including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).

This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a non-pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.
