What are the responsibilities and job description for the EMT/AEMT/Paramedic position at Delaware, County of (OH)?
The purpose of this posting is to compile a list of eligible Full-Time candidates for future EMT, Advanced EMT, and/or Paramedic positions within Delaware County. Full-Time eligible lists will remain active for 12 months before candidates will need to reapply and go through the process again. Those who apply will receive further details about the eligibility process below.
Eligible List Process
- For candidates selected to move forward in the process, Pre-employment testing will occur on June 5th. Testing will be in-person and offered at 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM on the provided day. Registration for testing will open May 14th and close on May 26th.
- Candidates will need to complete a PRADCO Quick Assessment before testing. The link will be shared on June 8th, 2026, to the email you listed on your application. Completion of this step will be due by June 14th.
- Interviews & skill evaluation for this position will begin on June 22nd and run through June 26th.
Hiring Process
Post-Interview Placement
Candidates who are selected after the interview and skills assessment will move forward in our process.
- Group 1
Candidates placed in Group 1 will proceed to the next phase of the hiring process. These candidates will complete the below items so they are ready for placement as openings occur:- Screenings & Checks: Drug screen, background check, driving record check, reference verification, and public records review.
- Medical Examination: Comprehensive physical exam including laboratory tests, titers, TB test, audiogram, respiratory function test, chest X-ray, resting EKG, and respiratory clearance.
- Physical Fitness Evaluation: Completion of the Standard Bruce Protocol treadmill test with a required score of greater than 8 METs, in addition to a functional job evaluation.
- Group 2
Candidates placed in Group 2 will remain on hold. As candidates in Group 1 are placed, Group 2 candidates will be advanced to Group 1. - Hiring Process
When a vacancy occurs, candidates from the Group 1 List will be contacted first with a contingent job offer, pending successful completion of the final required screenings and clearances.
Starting Pay by Position*: (2026 wages)
Full-Time EMT: $55,777.28
Full-Time Advanced EMT: $57,607.68
Full-Time Paramedic: $69,288.96
Prior experience beyond 5 years will be considered.
*All positions are hourly and include built-in overtime. The rates above are reflective of 2080 regular hours and 832 overtime hours per year. Overtime is any hours worked beyond 40 hours per week.
