What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary School Principal position at Delaware City Schools?
The Big Walnut Local School District seeks an outstanding educational leader to serve as Elementary School Principal (grades K-4) at Hylen Souders Elementary beginning in the 2022/2023 school year. This is a 215-day position with administrative benefits. The candidate should possess successful administrative experience, a thorough knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, supervision, community, and an ability to lead adults in continuous improvement efforts. Specifically, in addition to effective managerial skills, we seek a candidate who demonstrates:
- Ability to lead a professional learning community to meet the needs of every student
- Strong understanding of research-based best practices
- Knowledge of curriculum that meets the needs of students for the 21st Century
- Skills consistent with the state Principal Standards (a copy of the Standards can be found at http://education.ohio.gov/getattachment/Topics/Teaching/Educator-Equity/Ohio-s-Educator-Standards/StandardsPrincipals_sept07.pdf.aspx )
- Trained in or willing to be trained in the Ohio Teacher Evaluation System - including experience with classroom walk-throughs and knowledge of student growth measures
- Strategies to engage, communicate, and build rapport with students and parents
- Ability to lead the district vision and build an environment of continuous improvement
- Master's Degree or higher in Educational Administration
- Valid State of Ohio administrative licensure
- Experience in classroom and administration
