Job Summary

The Potty Training Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, Christ-centered learning environment for children approximately 2½ years of age who are beginning the transition to toilet independence. This teacher plays a vital role in partnering with families to encourage consistent potty-training routines while supporting each child's social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual development.

The ideal candidate is patient, encouraging, organized, and able to maintain a positive attitude while guiding children through this important developmental milestone.

Duties

• Supervise children during daily activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote learning, creativity, and physical development for toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary school-age children
• Provide attentive care for infants and toddlers, including feeding, diapering, and comforting as needed
• Engage children in educational play that supports childhood development and early learning milestones
• Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about their child's progress, behavior, and any concerns
• Follow mandated reporting laws by promptly reporting any signs of neglect or abuse in accordance with legal requirements
• Maintain a clean and organized environment conducive to safe play and learning

Potty Training Responsibilities

• Follow Delaware Christian Academy's potty training procedures and policies.
• Maintain a consistent potty schedule throughout the day.
• Encourage children through positive reinforcement without pressure or punishment.
• Assist children with toileting, handwashing, dressing, and personal hygiene.
• Recognize each child's readiness and developmental progress while maintaining classroom consistency.
• Prompt children regularly to use the restroom and respond appropriately to toileting cues.
• Handle accidents calmly, discreetly, and respectfully while maintaining the child's dignity.
• Maintain accurate communication with parents regarding each child's daily potty-training progress.
• Work collaboratively with families to ensure consistency between home and school whenever possible.
• Maintain a clean, sanitized restroom and changing area according to Ohio licensing requirements.

Skills

• Proven experience working with children across various age groups including infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary school-age children
• Demonstrated ability to care for children with disabilities or special needs with patience and understanding
• Strong knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices
• Excellent child supervision skills combined with behavior management techniques to foster positive behavior
• First aid and CPR certification to ensure immediate response in emergencies
• Effective activity planning skills to create engaging and educational experiences for children of different ages
• Clear communication skills for parent interactions and team collaboration
• Familiarity with daycare standards, classroom experience, babysitting or nannying roles is highly desirable

Pay: $15.75 - $17.50 per hour
