What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housing Specialist - Part Time position at Delaware Center for Justice?

- Provide personalized housing support services to adults referred by Kent County Probation & Parole.
- Coordinate, refer, and actively place clients at relevant housing sites, programs, or other related resources. .
- Serve as liaison for all housing referrals, follow-up on referrals through each phase of the process.
- Develop rapport and connect clients to housing opportunities through meetings on-site as well as through virtual engagement by phone/text/video meetings
- Establish and maintain relationships with housing providers, private landlords, and community agencies.
- Conduct outreach with private landlords, transitional housing providers and shelters.
- Assess and report on client progress and participation at regular intervals
- Maintain an organized database of all housing partners; keep detailed documentation of all contacts.
- Track and update client information using database program
- Generate monthly, quarterly reports and year-end reports to Dept. of Corrections and Management
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, or a related field preferred.
- Documented history of work experience involving at-risk service areas, such as justice-involved people, homelessness, behavioral health, or other underserved communities.
- Significant knowledge and experience related to justice-involved people, the social forces and systems impacting them, and the resources available to them is required.
- Experience in motivational interviewing, strengths-based, trauma-informed practice and/or Cognitive Behavioral practices is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with participants.
- Understands and supports the mission of the Delaware Center for Justice.
- Ability to multi-task and effectively manage work at different sites (in-office and off-site).
- Ability to multitask and work both independently and with supervision, on-site and remotely.
- Basic computer skills, including but not limited to the use of Microsoft Office, as well as Zoom/Skype and other distance meeting resources.
- · Background checks and clearances required as per program contract(s).
