Job Description
The PRN Direct Care Worker provides non-medical support services to clients in their homes on an as-needed basis. This position ensures the safety, comfort, and well-being of clients while promoting independence and quality of life. PRN staff are expected to be flexible, dependable, and able to work varying shifts based on client and agency needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility.
- Provide light housekeeping such as laundry, meal preparation, and maintaining a safe environment.
- Offer companionship and emotional support to clients.
- Assist with shopping, errands, and transportation as assigned.
- Observe and report any changes in client condition or environment to the supervisor promptly.
- Accurately document care provided in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
- Follow the client’s individualized care plan.
- Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to all agency standards and state regulations.
Be available for last-minute shift coverage when possible.

Qualifications
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Successful completion of a formal caregiver training program and/or skills competency evaluation (as required by state).
- Previous caregiving experience in a home care, facility, or related setting preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and follow a written care plan.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must have reliable transportation
- Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings.
Work Schedule
- PRN/As Needed Basis – hours and shifts will vary depending on client and agency needs.
- Must be flexible and willing to accept assignments with little notice.
- This is an hourly position; one mandatory quarterly Saturday meeting per quarter for 2 hours remote or in-person (4 per year)**
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, transfer, and assist clients (up to 50 lbs. or more with assistance).
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to perform job duties safely in clients’ homes.
