Key Responsibilities:
- Direct, organize, and oversee the overall operation of the Maintenance Department, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Develop and implement maintenance programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
- Coordinate daily maintenance services with related departments (e.g., Housekeeping, Dietary, Nursing, Activities)
- Prioritize and manage unscheduled maintenance tasks to ensure resident comfort and facility functionality
- Maintain the facility's equipment, grounds, and property through scheduled and preventive maintenance programs
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, perform regular safety inspections, and oversee fire protection and prevention programs
- Coordinate and monitor external maintenance services to ensure they meet required standards
- Prepare and submit reports to the Administrator, including accident and incident reports
- Participate in facility surveys and audits, ensuring corrective actions for any maintenance deficiencies
- Manage the department's inventory, supplies, and equipment to ensure efficient operations
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience in maintenance; healthcare setting experience is a plus
- Knowledge of boilers, compressors, generators, heating, air conditioning, and the ability to perform minor carpentry and renovations
- Strong ability to make independent decisions when required
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with all facility levels, residents, and external partners
- Ability to work in various conditions, including cramped spaces and adverse weather conditions
- Must be able to work on-call for emergencies and during weekends or holidays if needed
- Experience working with elderly, disabled, or emotionally upset individuals is preferred
