PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Shop Hand is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient work environment. This role supports daily shop operations by handling cleaning tasks, organizing tools and materials, and managing waste and scrap.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/DUTIES:
- Clean and maintain shop floors, work areas, and equipment
- Organize tools, parts, and supplies to ensure easy access and efficiency
- Sort, remove, and dispose of garbage, recycling, and scrap materials properly
- Operate a forklift to move materials, equipment, and scrap safely (certification preferred)
- Assist with loading and unloading materials
- Assist with inventory organization and basic stock management
- Support skilled workers with general labor tasks as needed
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to operate a forklift (certification preferred or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Basic understanding of shop tools and equipment (preferred but not required)
- Reliable and able to follow instructions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Fast-paced shop setting
- May involve exposure to dust, noise, and machinery
