Production Line Lead

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Production Line Lead is responsible for guiding and supporting production team members to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality output on the manufacturing line. This role acts as a hands-on leader, coordinating workflow, resolving operational issues, and maintaining compliance with safety, sanitation, and food quality standards. The Line Lead fosters a collaborative team environment and plays a key role in training, communication, and continuous improvement efforts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Perform or verify pre-shift equipment checks to ensure readiness and report any issues requiring maintenance attention.
• Make decisions about line setup to fulfill specific orders or meet production targets.
• Supervise and direct production line personnel, assigning tasks and providing real-time guidance.
• Motivate and support production team members to meet performance goals and maintain a cohesive, goal-driven work environment.
• Monitor production line efficiency, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes to optimize performance.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure production goals are met and daily operations run smoothly.
• Address production line issues, troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, and implement corrective actions to maintain continuous operation.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and coordinate timely replenishment of materials.
• Maintain accurate production and quality documentation, including shift reports, downtime logs, and incident records; escalate recurring issues to the Supervisor.
• Train new employees on production line procedures, safety protocols, and company standards.
• Support onboarding of new team members and reinforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) through demonstration and guidance.
• Coordinate line transitions and workflow prioritization during high-volume or complex production runs.
• Foster a positive, team-oriented environment focused on continuous improvement and safe practices.
• Communicate shift updates, production goals, and key issues to incoming/outgoing teams to ensure continuity and alignment across shifts.
• Support compliance with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) by guiding team members and modeling correct practices.
• Conduct regular checks of ingredients, equipment, and utensils for wear, contamination, or quality issues; take appropriate corrective action or report issues to the Supervisor.
• Monitor food safety and quality on the floor and promptly report any concerns or deviations to the Supervisor for follow-up.
• Promote a clean and safe work environment by ensuring team members follow proper equipment use and adhere to safety, sanitation, and quality protocols.
• Assist in leading end-of-shift cleaning and sanitation tasks, ensuring team members follow established procedures and meet cleanliness standards.
• Ensure all team members wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and provide reminders or redirection when needed.
• Support compliance with company, customer, federal, state, and local sanitation and safety policies by helping enforce protocols and reporting any non-compliance or incidents to the Supervisor.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Act as a Team Lead by providing limited supervision to others through motivation, direction, review, and feedback of assigned tasks.

EDUCATION

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED), preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES

• This position does not have any certification or license requirements.

EXPERIENCE

• Familiarity with production documentation, quality systems, and inventory rotation (FIFO) practices, required.
• Strong understanding of GMPs, HACCP, and food safety standards in a manufacturing setting, required.
• Ability to learn and safely operate production equipment with minimal supervision.
• Experience training or mentoring team members in production processes, equipment usage, and safety protocols, preferred.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Strong documentation and organizational skills.

• Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. Applicable only if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that used for ordinary movement.

• Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
• Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.

VISUAL ACUITY

• The work requires close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
• The work requires visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines such as lathes, drill presses, power saws and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach; performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature such as ones by carpenters, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc.
• The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (e.g., custodial, food services, general labor, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (e.g., security guard, inspection, etc.).

WORKING CONDITIONS

• The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
• The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
• The worker is subject to vibration: Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.
• The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
• The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
• The worker is required to function in narrow aisles or passageways.

WORK SCHEDULE

• Monday – Friday, 4:30 AM – 3:00 PM; weekends and overtime as needed.

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
