Job Title: Title I Teacher
Reports to: Campus Administrator
Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

District: Heritage Academy

Campus: Del Rio, Texas

School Year: 2024-2025

 

 

 

Position Summary:

 

Teaches content specific instruction and facilitates learning for students in a Heritage Academy Charter schools, Inc. (HACS), instructs, monitors and facilitates individual and group progress related to both state assessment(s) and content area specific academic progress, discipline and records. Works with administration, faculty, staff, parents and students to provide and implement content specific direct teach instruction and individualized tutoring to meet the needs of all students in both content specific pullouts and tutorials.

 

 

 

Qualifications:

 

Education/Certification

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (B.A.or B.S.) from four-year accredited College or University.
  • Must be Highly Qualified (HQ)
  • Must be certified
  • In addition to the four degree one of the following must also be met for HQ status:      (1) Texas State Teacher’s Certification in subject to be taught; (2) major in core academic area (i.e. 24 credit hours in core academic area, with 12 of which are upper level credit hours); (3) or passing score on an ExCET/TExES core academic area examination.
  • Another option to achieve HQ status is to have a Graduate degree in a core academic area.
  • Teacher’s Certification recommended but not required.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic knowledge of federal and state education laws.
  • Computer literate.
  • Strong organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to learn and implement teaching curriculum software programs and instruct students on utilization.
  • Ability to understand the individual needs of each student and develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Clear understanding of goal setting for students and the individualized approach.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of students, their parents, the community, peers, administrative staff, Principals, Superintendents, and corporate staff.
  • Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and student data such as diagnostic test results, state assessments scoring, transcripts, and grade point average.
  • Ability to transition with changes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to travel as necessary.
  • Specific knowledge of math, science, social studies, English language arts, curriculum and direct instruction preferred.

 

Experience

  • Teaching experience in assigned grade levels is strongly preferred.
  • Teaching experience in a Public School is preferred.
  • Possess the ability and patience to work interactively with children.
  • Strong computer skills, as well as strong organizational, time management, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Teacher’s Certification recommended but not required.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Responsible for the RTI Instructional and Program Management for all students assigned, including but not limited to, classroom instruction, after-school and Saturday tutorials.
  • Administer and monitor Diagnostic Tests to determine a student’s performance level and assigns curriculum accordingly.
  • Instruct and motivate students in content specific course study.
  • Assign lessons and correct homework.
  • Administer tests to evaluate student’s progress, records results, and issues reports to inform parents of progress.
  • Maintain discipline in the classroom.
  • Maintain a pullout classroom that is conducive to learning, safe, attractive and stimulating.
  • Set a good housekeeping example in the learning center and encourages students to follow this example.
  • Communicate with parents and schedule periodic meetings, before or after school, to discuss student progress and problems.
  • Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops.
  • Inspire students with consistency, care, and interest to build students’ self-esteem and promote continued success.
  • raise students, compliment them and encourages them in order to build character.
  • Utilize a variety of learning methods to enhance the students’ learning experiences.
  • Provide input into the preparation of an individualized education plan (IEP) to promote students’ success on the state’s assessment exams.
  • Work closely with the Special Education teacher to ensure special education students’ modifications are being implemented.
  • Perform related duties such as assisting students in selecting courses of study, counseling students in adjustment and academic problems, and sponsoring one or more activities or student organizations.
  • Conduct student assemblies as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Additional Responsibilities and Duties

  • Master the HACS curriculum in order to assist the students in mastering the grade level curriculum.
  • Read and comply with the HACS Procedures Manual, Student Handbook, Student Code of Conduct, and the Employee Handbook.
  • Perform special projects, during and after normal business hours, and other duties as assigned. | NOTE: After normal business hours may include, but is not limited to, Saturday Mandatory State Tutorials.

Salary : $52,141 - $61,000
