What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cafeteria Porter position at Del Rio Campus?
Position Summary:
The temporary part-time porter is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly cafeteria environment throughout the 2025–2026 academic year. This non-exempt position works three (3) hours per day, Monday–Friday. The porter reports directly to the campus administrator. The position begins immediately upon hire and terminates at the conclusion of the 2025–2026 school year.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
- Capacity to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Commitment to adhering to district safety, hygiene, and confidentiality standards.
Experience:
- Job-related experience is desired.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Cafeteria Cleanliness
- Remove all trash and recyclables promptly after the lunch period.
- Straighten tables, chairs, and other furniture to restore the dining area to its original layout.
- Sanitize cafeteria tables, chairs, and high-touch surfaces using district-approved cleaning agents.
- Spill Response
- Address and remediate food or beverage spills immediately to ensure student and staff safety.
- Apply appropriate signage (e.g., “Wet Floor”) while cleaning spills.
- Floor Care
- Sweep and mop cafeteria floors daily, ensuring all debris is removed.
- Periodically spot-clean high-traffic areas as needed during service times.
- Restroom Maintenance
- Clean and disinfect cafeteria-adjacent restrooms, including fixtures, mirrors, and floors.
- Additional Duties
- Follow established safety and health protocols, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
- Report facility issues (e.g., damaged furniture, plumbing problems) to the campus administrator or designee.
- Perform other related tasks assigned by the campus administrator consistent with the role.
