What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Assistant- Temp position at Del Monte Fresh Produce Company NA Inc?
Purpose of Position:

This position will be responsible for maintaining good relations between internal and external customers, and the company’s network of 3rd party providers.
Accountabilities:
- Manage appointments for 3rd party carriers and brokers.
- Will be the first point of contact between carriers and customer for tracking and tracing purposes.
- Prepare daily routes and confirm routing with carrier and customer.
- Manage track process to ensure timely customer pickup and delivery.
- Manage collection of PODs
- Responsible for issuing of Com checks and lumpers.
- Update and maintain assigned reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Keep dispatchers aware of any delays or problems.
Minimum Skills Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, from an accredited institution.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (i.e. Word, Excel and Outlook).
- Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations.
- Strong sense of direction and good understanding of the U.S. inland.
- Knowledge of transportation handling best practices, with a good understanding of cold chain management.
- Excellent communication, organizational and customer service skills.
- Must be flexible to work on holidays and weekends when required.
Preferred:
- Knowledge or experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
- Previous experience with any transportation software programs is beneficial for this position.
- Less than Load (LTL) and Truck Load (TL) experience.
