Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
The purpose of this role is to offer technical expertise and experience in the maintenance and servicing of low-voltage systems, which are defined as electrical systems operating at less than 120 volts. This includes security camera systems, access control systems, and fire and life safety devices, all aimed at supporting the College’s Environmental, Health & Safety Department as well as the DMC Police Department.
This position will include all Del Mar College campuses, facilities and all current or future locations.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalency.
Two (2) years related experience installing/servicing low-voltage systems, i.e., fire alarm systems, access control, intrusion systems, and CCTV systems.
Valid Driver license with ability to obtain a Texas Driver License within 90 days of hire and be insurable by Del Mar College.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Must have the ability to install; perform routine maintenance; troubleshoot; and make repairs to the following low-voltage systems: fire alarm systems; access control; intrusion systems; and CCTV systems.
Must be computer literate, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment with experience in MS Word; must have basic knowledge of IP network technologies; and knowledge of computer server operating systems.
Pertaining to low-voltage systems, must have the ability to: read and understand electrical diagrams, blueprints, applicable building codes, electrical codes, Fire & Life Safety codes, and other safety regulations.
Must be able to: prepare technical reports and other related documents; prepare sketches showing location of low-voltage wiring and equipment; and observe functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments.
Pertaining to conduit associated with low-voltage systems, must be able to: measure, cut, bend, assemble, install, pull wiring through conduit or above ceiling.
Must have the ability to operate electronic testing equipment and trouble-shoot basic low-voltage circuit boards and controls.
Must be able to use hand and power tools applicable to the trade.
Preferred Qualifications
Three (3) or more years of intrusion or life safety systems related experience training or advanced study beyond high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Five (5) years related experience in access control; intrusion systems; and CCTV systems and/or project management.
Alarm Systems License issued by Texas Department of Public Safety.
Able to operate electronic testing equipment and trouble-shoot basic circuit boards and controls
Knowledge of various technology platforms and operating systems, preferably PC, Windows-based.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
