Job Description Summary
The purpose of this position is to tutor students, enhance their mathematics knowledge and help them develop the skills necessary to succeed in a variety of math courses. Tutors will utilize a collaborative and interactive process to enable and encourage students to become a more effective and independent learner.
Work/schedule hours vary, however may be within any time that the Math Learning Center is open.
Minimum Qualifications
MATH LEARNING CENTER – PROFESSIONAL TUTOR (LEVEL I) -

Minimum Qualifications
MATH LEARNING CENTER – PROFESSIONAL TUTOR (LEVEL I) -
- 12 college credit hours, “B” average for Math classes
- 60 college credit hours, “B” average for Math classes
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mathematics or a Math-related field ***OR*** Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 21 college credit hours in Mathematics
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong mathematical skills and logical reasoning.
- Ability to effectively articulate mathematical concepts. Capable of working with students from different cultural backgrounds as well as various academic levels and needs.
- Prior tutoring experience.
- Completion of Calculus I and II with high standing.
- Knowledge of learning management systems (preferably Canvas).
- Proficient with a variety of calculators and math software such as MyMathLab.
- Ability to work independently and to take initiative in fulfilling responsibilities.
