Pay Range: $28.84 - 33.65 per Hour (annualized as $60,000 - $70,000)

The Assistant Project Accountant performs professional level accounting work in the maintenance and review of fiscal records. The position requires considerable knowledge of basic accounting principles and accounting functions. The individual is responsible for the general ledger, job cost, bank reconciliations and accounts payable. Additional responsibilities include performing monthly closings, maintenance of accounting files and preparation/organization of various financial forms, reports, and financial analyses, etc. This individual may be asked to assist with ad-hoc projects and general office support tasks when necessary. The responsibilities and tasks will be coordinated with and supervised by the Controller and CFO.
Essential Functions
- Set-ups and maintains jobs in accounting system including contract and contact information.
- Reviews the accuracy of subcontractor billings for discrepancies with stakeholders and correct accordingly.
- Logs and monitors 20-day preliminary notices from subcontractors, suppliers, and Del Amo Construction while ensuring valid preliminary notices are issues and accuracy of logs.
- Identifies potential issues such as over/under billings when preparing monthly project billings, supplying all required supporting documentation, and entry into the accounting system.
- Monitors client receivables balances and escalate to CFO as needed.
- Prepares and reviews check runs for subcontractor and supplier payments.
- Collects and logs Conditional/Unconditional releases.
- Manages ERP system attributes and closes job records.
- Creates custom reporting as needed in accounting system or Excel as needed and requested.
- Manages employee reimbursements including reviewing, inputting, and check runs.
- Oversees AMEX and gas card statements, reconciliation, cost coding, and payment processing.
- Prepares monthly bank reconciliations and records adjusting entries as needed.
- Enters and maintains fixed asset transactions.
- Prepares and files 1099 miscellaneous forms.
- Be the primary contact with accounting software vendor and partner with stakeholders to find innovative ways to increase efficiencies and find solutions to issues.
- Assists in internal and external audits and audit preparation.
- Supports and embodies company maxims and value proposition to create deep, lasting relationships with clients and business partners.
- Clerical tasks and ad hoc reporting assigned by the Controller/CFO
Competencies, Skills & Experience
- Associates Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance preferred
- 1-2 Years of related experience
- Must have excellent time management skills with ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize efficiently

- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
