POSITION TITLE: School Nurse
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current license to practice as a professional nurse from the Alabama Board of Nursing.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification. (Recertification may occur within 60 days of employment)
REPORTS TO:
- Nurse Supervisor
- Principal or Principal's designee at assigned work site.
SUPERVISES:
- Students under direct nursing care
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Will attend required professional development as necessary to renew nursing license through the Alabama Board of Nursing.
- Will contribute to the education of the student with special health care needs by assessing the student, planning and providing appropriate nursing care and evaluation of the identified outcomes of care.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining a comprehensive school health program.
- Collaborates with other school professionals, parents, and caregivers to meet the health developmental and educational needs of the students.
- Will serve as a school-community liaison.
- Assists students, families and the school community to achieve optimal levels of wellness through appropriately designed and delivered health education.
- Other position related duties as assigned by the school nurse supervisor or principal.
- Maintain the confidentiality of student records.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Salary to be in accordance with the current applicable salary schedule.
EVALUATION:
- Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
