SALARY INFORMATION: $25.00 Hourly / Pay Grade TPW / Job Code T1001**
Job Responsibilities
Under general supervision, the Community Health Educator will play a key role in supporting activities aligned with grant-funded adolescent health and youth development initiatives. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and participating in outreach events; delivering accurate and age-appropriate health education; and facilitating evidence-based programming focused on risk reduction strategies. Core topics include teen pregnancy prevention, abstinence education, anti-bullying efforts, and other relevant areas of adolescent health and wellness.
Typical Tasks
- Lead Outreach & Engagement: Coordinate recruitment events, attend health fairs, and build relationships with community members and partners to expand program visibility and participation.
- Design & Execute Youth Programs: Plan and deliver adolescent health workshops, training, and outreach events especially during key Adolescent Health observance months.
- Facilitate Risk Reduction Curricula: Deliver state-approved health education programs focused on risk reduction strategies for youth in schools, community centers, and other relevant settings.
- Collect & Analyze Community Data: Administer digital surveys, manage data collection tools, and analyze feedback to measure program effectiveness and inform future initiatives.
- Collaborate & Report: Communicate regularly with local partners and agencies, attend internal training, and submit timely reports to county, state, and federal stakeholders.
- Must be available on some weekends.
- Can work up to 23 hours per week, with hours fluctuating due to involvement across two separate grant programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in education, social, behavioral, or biological sciences or a directly related field from an accredited college or university.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
: In addition to the minimum qualifications, preference will be given to applicants who:
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Bilingual, Spanish preferred.
- 1–2 years of experience working with adolescents in a community-based or educational setting.
- Familiarity with evidence-based health promotion and youth risk reduction curricula.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage in diverse communities.
- Experience with data collection, reporting, and working within grant-funded programs.
- Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and other Microsoft Programs.
