About DeKALB Molded Plastics:

DeKALB is a custom structural foam molder with over 30 years of specializing in large, multi-nozzle plastic products. As one of the first ISO 9001:2008 certified structural plastics molders in the US, we offer in-house post mold painting, plastic decorating capabilities, kitting, and assembly requirements for programs ranging from single standalone products to complex, multi-component, multi-operation programs. With presses ranging in tonnage from 300 tons to 750 tons.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the leadership and management of all material planning, purchasing, inventory control, production scheduling, customer order fulfillment, shipping, receiving, and logistics activities. This position ensures the timely availability of materials and the efficient flow of products throughout the organization to meet customer requirements while supporting company objectives related to inventory management, operational efficiency, and profitability. This position is responsible for leading and directing all functions of the Materials Department.

Key Responsibilities:

· Follow all safety policies and procedures

· Perform the essential functions of the job within acceptable OSHA and safety/environmental regulations, quality, productivity and performance standards as outlined in plant policies, procedures and applicable work instructions

· Manage and direct departmental employees with appropriate tasks related to purchasing, scheduling, inventory control, shipping and receiving

· Oversee all inventories including raw materials, work-in-process, finished goods and purchased components while maintaining appropriate inventory levels and controlling costs

· Manage customer order entry, releases, forecasts and production scheduling activities

· Ensure production schedules support customer requirements while maximizing plant efficiency

· Manage all activities and functions associated with negotiating pricing and purchasing resin, packaging materials, indirect materials and outside services

· Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships while monitoring supplier performance related to quality, delivery and cost

· Identify and implement material cost savings opportunities through supplier negotiations and strategic sourcing initiatives

· Oversee all shipping and receiving activities, including freight management and control of all related documents

· Assure that all departmental reports are prepared and distributed in an appropriate and timely manner

· Support the Safety Initiatives of the Company, keeping a safe working environment

· Oversee compliance with government regulations

· Serve as a member of the DOT (DeKALB Operating Team)

· Responsible for SOP development and maintenance for all Materials Department functions

· Ownership of inventory management including active, slow-moving and obsolete materials

· Monitor inventory accuracy through cycle counting, auditing and reconciliation activities

· Lead continuous improvement initiatives

· Utilize ERP/MRP systems to manage planning, purchasing, inventory and scheduling activities

Qualifications:

Performing this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the Key Responsibilities listed above.

Education/Experience:

· Must be able to work as a team

· Must be able to understand written/verbal instructions

· Strong attention to detail and accuracy

· Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management or related field preferred, or equivalent experience

· Minimum five (5) years of manufacturing materials management, purchasing, supply chain or production planning experience

· Minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience preferred

· Proven ability in managing inventory, purchasing and production scheduling functions

· Proficient in use of MRP or ERP systems. IQMS/DELMIAWorks experience preferred

· Strong computer knowledge; Excel/MS Office

· Strong negotiation skills with experience in purchasing resins and supplier management

· Proven ability to successfully manage an organization through growth

· Exhibits a high level of integrity, organizational and presentation skills

· Exceptional time management skills including the ability to effectively prioritize

· Proven ability to work with people at all levels across the organization and focused on achieving results through others

· Proven ability to achieve business results through effective problem-solving skills

· Strong customer focus

Physical Abilities Required:

· Ability to lift up to 30 pounds

· Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending and climbing

· Ability to pass a DOT physical and drive a box truck when required

· Manual and finger dexterity

· Must be able to work extended hours and/or overtime as required
