Behavior Consultant

Title: NEISEC Behavior Coordinator

Reports To: Executive Director

Primary Purpose:

The NEISEC Behavior Coordinator provides leadership, consultation, coaching, and professional development to member school corporations to improve outcomes for students with behavioral, social, and emotional needs. Working collaboratively with administrators, teachers, related service providers, and families, the Behavior Coordinator supports the development of positive behavior systems, assists with complex student situations, promotes compliance with Indiana Article 7, and builds district capacity through evidence-based behavioral practices.

NEISEC seeks a collaborative educational leader with expertise in behavior intervention. Preference will be given to candidates who hold Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification; however, qualified candidates with strong experience in behavior consultation and a valid Indiana Mild Intervention or Intense Intervention teaching license are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

Required

• Valid Indiana Mild Intervention or Intense Intervention teaching license.
• Experience working with students exhibiting significant behavioral, social-emotional, or mental health needs.
• Experience conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and developing and implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
• Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based behavior interventions and positive behavior supports.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout member school corporations.

Preferred

• Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification.
• Candidates without BCBA certification who possess significant experience in behavior intervention, staff coaching, and behavioral consultation are encouraged to apply.
• Experience providing professional development and coaching to educational staff.
• Knowledge of Indiana Article 7 and special education compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide consultation and coaching to school administrators, teachers, and special education staff regarding behavioral programming, intervention planning, and implementation.
• Conduct or assist in the development of Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
• Assist school teams in implementing, monitoring, and revising behavior intervention plans using data-based decision making.
• Support staff in implementing evidence-based classroom management strategies and positive behavior supports.
• Conduct classroom observations and provide coaching, feedback, and follow-up support to improve student outcomes.
• Assist member districts in supporting students with challenging behaviors across the continuum of educational placements.
• Participate in Case Conference Committee meetings as requested to provide behavioral expertise and recommendations.
• Provide consultation regarding behavior supports, and disciplinary considerations in accordance with Indiana Article 7.
• Develop and deliver professional learning for cooperative staff and member districts on topics including:
• Positive Behavior Supports
• Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs)
• Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
• De-escalation strategies
• Trauma-informed practices
• Autism and other disability-specific behavior supports
• Classroom behavior management
• Collaborate with administrators and multidisciplinary teams to develop proactive solutions for students with complex behavioral needs.
• Assist with crisis response and problem-solving for students exhibiting significant behavioral challenges.
• Maintain documentation and records necessary to support services and ensure compliance with state and federal special education regulations.
• Foster positive relationships with students, families, school personnel, and community agencies.
• Make positive contributions to the culture and climate of NEISEC.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and educational technology platforms.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to travel regularly between member school corporations.
• Ability to observe students in classroom, school, and community settings.
• Ability to participate in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training and safely demonstrate approved physical intervention techniques, when required.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift instructional materials and equipment as needed.


• Ability to work for extended periods at a computer while completing documentation, reports, and other required duties.
