Empowerment: The Dispatcher reports to the Dispatch Supervisor as well as the Field Operations Supervisors. The Emergency Medical Dispatcher is responsible for the processing of all incoming emergency and non-emergency calls.
Education Requirements: High school diploma or G.E.D. minimum. Preferred EMT license. FEMA 100, 200, 700 and 800 along with a HAZMAT training class.
Responsibilities: Must demonstrate excellent telecommunication skills, including voice control, enunciation, diction and calming techniques. Must have working knowledge in Computer Aided Dispatch systems. Must have working knowledge of FCC rules and regulations. Must be knowledgeable about local geography and local public agency resources. Must obtain certification as an Emergency Medical Dispatcher through NAEMD.
Duties: Receives requests for emergency and non-emergency services from the general public and other public safety agency personnel. Provides pre-arrival instructions to callers in an emergency or non-emergency situation. Takes, transfers, or relays incoming messages for instructions from allied health and the general public to assure continuously uninterrupted service by the company. Dispatches the most appropriate vehicles, directs ambulances, law enforcement and rescue units and other appropriate units, in accordance with company policy. Notifies management of any deviations, actions, or conduct of communications of field personnel which reflect unfavorably upon the image of or services rendered by the company, including but not limited to, deviation from standard operating procedure, written company policy, or verbal instruction of communications personnel or supervisory personnel. Obtains and records accurately and completely all data required by supervisory and management personnel. Conducts his/herself in a highly ethical and professional manner at all times. Completes all other duties as assigned.

Technology Tool Capabilities: The successful Dispatcher will be able to use the following technology tools: E-mail, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Internet Search Engines, LCD Projector, Digital Camera, Scanner, Computer and Printer.
