HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE

A Shop Lead, will be responsible for leading shop floor associates (SFA’s) in a manufacturing environment. overseeing daily operations on the shop floor to ensure production goals are met safely, efficiently, and with high quality. This role acts as the first line of leadership for shop employees, providing guidance, direction, and support while maintaining open communication with supervisors and management.

• Perform daily production tasks while leading by example, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards.

• Position requires the ability to concentrate on fine detail with constant interruption and attend tasks for 20 to 45 minutes at a time.

• Conduct hands-on QC checks throughout the shift, including first-piece, in-process, and final inspections, document findings and correct defects immediately.

• Operate machinery, tools, and equipment as needed to support production flow and cover manpower gaps.

• Assist with setup, changeovers, and adjustments to machines to maintain consistent output and reduce downtime.

• Maintain a clean and safe work area by performing regular housekeeping and proactively addressing safety risks by completing safety audits.

• Coordinate daily workflow on the floor, assigning tasks and helping team members troubleshoot issues as they arise.

• Train and coach operators directly at the workstation on best practices, safe operation, and proper use of tools and materials.

• Monitor material usage, verify correct parts are being used, and ensure processes are followed to produce products that meet specifications.

• Participate directly in problem-solving, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions for quality or process issues.

• Communicate production needs, quality concerns, and equipment problems to supervisors and maintenance in real time

WHAT THIS ROLE NEEDS

• Good vision, ability to follow oral and written instructions; detail oriented and organized; self-motivated and able to meet manufacturing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have basic mechanical and/or electrical skills and be able to operate hand and power tools.
• Must possess and be able to use basic hand tools.
• Must be able to remember multiple tasks and be able to communicate verbally and written.

Education & Experience:

• 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.

• Ability to read blueprints, work orders, and production schedules.

• Experience in a manufacturing environment with exposure to shop floor processes is preferred.

• Proven experience leading employees working in a team environment. Mechanically inclined and self-motivated.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Most of the time will be spent standing on a hard surface.

• Position requires the ability to frequently lift objects up to 50 pounds.

• Position requires performance of moderately difficult, manipulative and hand-eye coordination skills.

• Position requires walking and standing for prolonged periods.

• Position requires the capability to see objects closely.

• Position requires the ability to concentrate on fine detail with constant interruption and attend to tasks for 20 to 45 minutes at a time.

• This position is indoors in a traditional manufacturing/warehouse setting.

• The position is indoors and there may be exposure to hazardous fumes and debris.

• There will be varying temperatures between different areas.

• There will be normal sounds with some background noises.
