Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Product Development Manager to lead product research, development, and delivery efforts across software and/or hardware solutions. This role supports enterprise-scale, mission-driven systems operating in a regulated environment, requiring strong collaboration, documentation, and governance.

The Product Development Manager will leverage IT systems expertise to identify automation opportunities, improve business processes, and translate high-level business needs into clear product strategies, roadmaps, and functional specifications. The ideal candidate brings experience from complex organizations and can balance innovation, reliability, and compliance while delivering user-centric, scalable solutions aligned with organizational priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Development

• Manage research and development activities related to the design, development, and qualification of new and existing software and/or hardware products

• Translate business needs into product strategies, roadmaps, and functional specifications

• Identify automation opportunities and process improvements using IT systems expertise

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with cross-functional teams (engineering, IT, business stakeholders) to ensure fulfillment of product requirements

• Evaluate product performance and support the transition from development to production and operational use

• Act as a technical consultant to the product organization

Release & Delivery Management

• Assist in determining delivery and deployment schedules for:

  • New product releases

  • Feature and maintenance releases

  • Corrective service and service pack releases

• Lead major product releases and oversee feature enhancements

• Manage schedules, tasks, dependencies, and risks across all aspects of product development

Technology & Architecture Alignment

• Ensure the technology and architectural roadmap aligns with and supports product and business objectives

• Lead research and prototyping of innovative technologies and solutions

• Ensure product solutions meet organizational, regulatory, security, and operational standards appropriate for enterprise systems

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as a liaison on technical matters related to:

  • Product integration

  • Custom development

  • Functional and technical requirements

• Respond to customer requests and support continuous improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field,
  or equivalent professional experience

• 7 years of experience in product engineering, IT, or high-tech environments

• Experience managing teams responsible for software and/or hardware design, engineering, and development

• Experience leading research and development activities for new and existing products

• Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams to deliver product requirements

• Experience managing product releases, schedules, and delivery timelines

• Experience acting as a technical consultant and leading research and prototyping efforts

• Experience aligning engineering architecture roadmaps with product and business strategies

• Experience serving as a liaison on technical integration and requirements

• Strong product delivery, organization, and execution skills

• Highly proficient in spoken and written English

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in regulated, highly governed, or enterprise environments
  (e.g., public sector, healthcare, financial services, utilities) — public sector experience is a plus, not required

• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365

• Ability and willingness to work onsite in Tallahassee, Florida
